Before its establishment in 1999, Boxhill Farm was a dairy homesteaded in 1908. The cows left it calm and soft, perfect for the plants. It now has a fair amount of permaculture in tree allées, hedges, and perennial gardens, which are home to many types of birds and small animals while also contributing to the nursery. It represents what a complete repurposing can accomplish given a little time.
